IR VIVO™ Preclinical Imaging System opens a new window on living bodies

Using the first (NIR) and second biological window (NIR-II) from 900-1620 nm, Photon etc.’s IR VIVO™ preclinical imager provides multispectral or hyperspectral infrared imaging capabilities for in vivo studies on small animals or living organisms. It combines micron-scale spatial resolution, real-time imaging and full spectral coverage throughout small animals. Emission of several fluorophores can be isolated with a high-efficiency tunable filter and ultra-low noise scientific-grade InGaAs camera.

Photon etc.’s IR VIVO system

Video of IR VIVO imaging experiment showing the biodistribution and pharmacokinetics of ICG in real-time. IR VIVO is able to visualize basic NIR probes at high resolutions allowing to address questions in biology in ways not yet imagined. From one single injection, it was possible to obtain measurements of heartbeat, respiration and intestinal contraction rates.

Photon etc.’s Global Imaging Technology

This video shows the conceptual difference between hyperspectral global imaging and raster scan (line-scan, push- broom). With global imaging, the gain in acquiring 3D data, 2D spatial and 1D spectral, is important since only a few monochromatic images are required to cover the complete spectral range where one needs to take the full spectrum for each point or line in the image with other technologies.
